Penomet vs Bathmate
Summary
Both of these products are hands down the best on the market. The only place where the Bathmate falls short is that its previous models (X30/X40) delivered slightly less pressure than the Penomet Premium Package – but it is still a fantastic product and has since been address in its latest model – the Bathmate Xtreme X40.
Either of these pumps is a perfect option for a beginner and/or experience pumper.
User Review
( votes)The Bathmate is the leading penis pump on the market, having sold over 2 million units since the companies’ inception, and the Penomet is the premium, high-performing newcomer. I’m going to compare both devices stats, gaiters, and my results to determine the best pump on the market. Read more to find out the most effective pump available in this Penomet vs Bathmate showdown.
Penomet vs Bathmate
For the sake of this comparison I will be comparing the Penomet Premium Package with the Bathmate X40 – the most popular model of the bathmate.
The main differences between these two pumps is the gaiter systems, there are advantages and disadvantages to both systems. With the Penomet premium package, the gaiters are interchangeable so you get a completely custom pump, and with the Bathmate, the gaiters are permanently attached to the device with no customizable option, although the Bathmate in my opinion is a little more comfortable than the Penomet.
As we know that both of these pumps are both extremely effective, I’m going to be comparing some key aspects of them to make my number one decision:
- Pump Size & Specs
- Gaiters
- Fluid Retention
- Build Quality
- Innovation
Penomet Size & Specs
The Penomet is a massive pump, great for beginners and seasoned PE-ers alike. You can fit up to 9 inches of erect penis into the pump, and have a max girth of 2.49 inches. It also holds approximately 30 oz of water inside as well to give you an idea.
Bathmate Hydromax X40
The Bathmate X40 is also a very respectable size pump. It can hold up to 8.5 inches of erect length and 2.2 inches of girth in the tube. It holds a total of around 23 oz of water.
Conclusion:
The Penomet is a bit bigger than the Bathmate and therefore can result in bigger size gains.
2. Gaiters
The Penomet premium package comes with 5 interchangeable gaiters that are made with medical grade silicon. The do not irritate the skin and offer a completely customized pumping experience. The only down size is that they do not have the comfort pad option that the Bathmate has. They have also borrowed the same style gaiter from the Bathmate because it is such an effective design.
The Bathmate X40 only has one gaiter that is permanently fixed to the device. This does not allow for a completely customized pump but it is still extremely effective and a high quality gaiter. Unlike the Penomet it comes with a comfort pad so it is one of the most comfortable pumps on the market, although you may have to shave your pubic hair to take advantage of this pumps suction:
Conclusion:
In terms of comfort I would have to go with the Bathmate X40, and it is still a fantastic gaiter and what I saw my gains on. In terms of pump quality and customization I would have to go with the Penomet because it can be tailored to your pumping experience and help you see the fastest results possible. So my final decision is that the Penomet has a better gaiter system.
3. Fluid Retention
- The Penomet does not give you ANY fluid retention whatsoever and has been the first pump to offer this feature. They won’t release what allows this to happen as it is a trade secret.
- The Bathmate X40 has mild fluid retention which is completely harmless.
Conclusion:
I prefer to go with the Penomet due to it not causing any fluid retention. That being said, some guys like fluid retention because it gives them a massive looking post-pump penis size increase. Fluid retention is completely harmless and a regular thing that happens while pumping.
4. Build Quality
The Penomet is made from the highest quality materials on the market. Its gaiters are made with medical grade silicon and the pump is high quality polycarbonate that is made in the USA. It only uses these two materials to put the pump together, giving it an effective minimalist edge.
There are many more parts to the Bathmate, it has high quality polycarbonate, stainless steel, and a silicon gaiter. Although not as much effort has been put into streamlining the design.
Conclusion:
Penomet has the highest build quality of any pump on the market. It is an effective minimalist design that allows you to interchange gaiters and create an extremely tight vacuum.
5. Innovation
Which company is more innovative? The Penomet is the newcomer onto the scene and produced a completely new innovative concept of interchangeable gaiters and customized pumping. That being said, they are still relatively new to the world of penis pumps and it is still yet to see what they will deliver in the long term.
The Bathmate is the undisputed king of innovation in the world of penis pumps. They are constantly tweaking, upgrading, and adding new features based off of their customers recommendations. Their latest model, the Bathmate Xtreme X40 is an example of this. They have added a hand pump to make it a completely customizable, more effective, and personalized pumping experience.
Conclusion:
The Bathmate so far is the most innovative product out of these two companies. I will not be surprised when the Bathmate releases their latest model and it blows the Penomet out of the water. They have been in business for over a decade and they don’t plan on stopping soon.

Happy pumping!
Have you tried the new penomet handball pump and if so how does it stack up with extreme x30 and the extreme x40
Thanks for all that you do
Hi Daron,
I haven’t tried the new handball pump yet – I’ll make sure to put in an order over the summer to try it out and write a new article!
Although I would imagine that it would be a fantastic addition to the penomet pump – although it kind of makes the gaiters a little redundant if it does its job well!
